§1. The Ethics Committee

The Ethics Committee is an independent department responsible for monitoring on-site personnel, apprehending individuals caught to be in violation of the Code of Ethics and collaborating with other departments. Despite its small size the committee is considered to be a widely influential figure within the Foundation as it is able to directly amend the Code of Ethics without a second vote from the O5 Council. Departments looking to expand their permissions are advised to approach the Ethics Committee for such requests through internal channels provided to the necessary representatives.

How do I join the Ethics Committee?

The Ethics Committee periodically opens up applications which are announced in the main Paragon Discord server.

How do I contact the Ethics Committee?

You can contact the Ethics Committee by joining Paragon's main Discord server, creating a ticket in #open_a_ticket and choosing one of Ethics Committee's ticket categories. This will put you in direct line of contact with committee staff.

What does the Ethics Committee do?

The Ethics Committee's job is to ensure all site activities, testing protocols, and personnel actions align with Foundation ethical standards. This is achieved by reviewing research proposals, investigating policy infractions, and maintaining departmental oversight.

How do I appeal a punishment issued by the Ethics Committee?

§3. Criminal Review Office

The Criminal Review Office is a branch of the Ethics Committee responsible for handling appeal/expungement cases involving ethical and internal departmental infractions. Members are expected to be familiar with the appellate procedures listed within the Code of Ethics as well as the necessary legal principles applied when handling individual cases. The office has its own internal structure, however, all internal operations are overseen by Ethics High Command.

§4. Meet the Command Team

The Ethics Committee Command Team is responsible for managing department operations, investigating ethical infractions, and guiding personnel through their duties. 

Members ranked Committee Secretary and above have direct editorial access to the Code of Ethics.
