Introduction
Information Security
§1. Overview
A. Some information can be classified on multiple levels, restricting it from public disclosure and access. This classification can apply from Discord servers and channels to documents, and the contents within them. Classification is guided by these factors and the degree they apply:
Gameplay integrity: The information would compromise fairness, balance, or immersion of the intended gameplay if publicly disclosed.
Operational integrity: The information could compromise due process or other investigative processes if publicly disclosed.
Detriment to privacy, safety, or well-being: The information could compromise one's privacy, safety, or well-being, such as personal information or information that could be used to target or illegetimately scrutinize.
B. All documents classified internal or above must comply with COAR § 3.2. Negligence resulting in unauthorized disclosure or access may warrant administrative action.
C. The Internal Security Department and Community Moderation Team have a legal responsibility to immediately delete any information they believe to be classified internal or above.
D. Unjustified classification of information may be reviewed by the Internal Security Department, and appropriate changes recommended to the relevant Central Command and the O5 Council.
§2. Public
A. There are no dissemination restrictions placed on the information.
§3. Private
A. The information is not publicized, intended solely for certain records pertaining to a specific person.
B. Unauthorized disclosure is typically handled within the relevant record holding department.
§4. Internal
A. The information is best kept restricted within a department, but unauthorized disclosure would result in marginal effects to the broader Foundation. Intended for information others could use for advantageous knowledge of a department's operations and procedures.
B. Department Central Command teams may discretionally classify their documents internal, subject to the policies of section 1 of this chapter.
C. Unauthorized disclosure is typically handled within the relevant department.
§5. Confidential
A. The information is restricted out of necessity, as unauthorized disclosure could result in notable effects in the Foundation, or applies to the detriment to privacy, safety, or well-being criterion.
B. Unauthorized disclosure is prosecuted under Part IV, Chapter 2, Section 9.
§6. Secret
A. The information is heavily restricted out of necessity, as unauthorized disclosure could result in significant effects in the Foundation, or applies to the detriment to privacy, safety, or well-being criterion.
